The Versitility of the WaterMate Irragation System
Share
Watering your garden, polytunnel or greenhouse doesn’t need to be a chore – it can be smart, efficient, and tailored to your needs. That’s where our WaterMate smart irrigation systems come in. Whatever your irrigation needs, we’ve got the tools (and tech) to help you water your plant, your way.
What’s in the kit?
Each WaterMate kit provides everything you’ll need to get set up and watering…
- Control unit – this is the ‘smart’ bit of the kit
- Power supply – either solar or mains
- Pump or tap fixings – depending on whether you’ll be using a water tank or mains water
- Valves – with two separate zones
- LDPE distribution pipe – to feed water around the system
- Braided hose – we use the highest quality 13mm hose
- Irrigation hose – 20mm hose to feed water to your plants
- Filter – to prevent your system from blockages
- Irrigation accessories – such as joins, drippers and sprayers
Occasionally some people find they need to add to their kit if they are irrigating a large or unusually shaped area. You’ll find extra accessories and irrigation parts on our website.
What can the WaterMate do?
Drippers
Perfect for garden beds, pots, or individual plants, drippers provide targeted irrigation right where it matters – at the root zone. In hot weather a lot of water can evaporate from the surface of the soil, using drippers concentrates the watering area, allowing it to soak deep down, which cuts down on waste water. No more guesswork.. Whether you’re nurturing tomatoes in raised beds or delicate flowers on the porch, drippers ensure every drop counts.
Best for: Potted plants, vegetable gardens, flower beds
Top tip: Control the amount of water each plant gets with different flow rate drippers
Sprayers
Need a light touch? Sprayers mimic natural rainfall, ideal for ferns, leafy greens, and newly planted seedlings. They offer a wide coverage area and can be easily adjusted to suit your plant’s specific needs.
Best for: Seedlings, ground cover, sensitive plants
Top Tip: Set sprayers on the ground to keep the water close to the plants that need it most
Misters
Misters are all about atmosphere. These ultra-fine sprays are ideal for cooling down hot spaces, raising humidity, and pampering plants that love a humid environment. They’re a favorite in greenhouses and patios—and your ferns, orchids, and succulents will thank you.
Best for: Cucumbers and other high humidity loving plants
Top tip: Set your misters to come on early in the day, to gently increase humidity
Soaker Hose
Want low-maintenance, deep watering for your garden beds? The soaker hose weaves its way through the soil, slowly releasing water along its length. It’s practically invisible once installed and great for reducing evaporation.
Best for: Garden borders, vegetable rows, large flower beds
Top tip: Connect to a rainwater tank and let nature do the watering
Note – we don’t sell soaker hose at Harvst but our system will support it, along with all other industry standard fittings
Shrubblers
Shrubblers are perfect for shrubs and larger plants that need a little more than a dripper but less than a sprayer. With adjustable flow control, they give you the flexibility to fine-tune how much each plant receives.
Best for: Shrubs, young trees, mixed container plantings
Top tip: Combine shrubblers and drippers on the same line to water a variety of plant sizes
Spray Gun
Sometimes, you just want to get hands-on. Adding a spray gun to your system gives you full control – perfect for spot watering or cleaning off garden tools.
Best for: Quick jobs, rinsing, potted plants
Top tip: Spraying the ground, perhaps walkways which you wouldn’t typically water will help cool down plants during heatwaves.
Add Extra Zones
Why limit yourself to just one watering style? Our extra zones allow you even more flexibility. You can have drippers in your veggie patch, soakers along your flower beds, sprayers for your ferns, and a dedicated spray gun for everything else and all controlled from your phone.
Best for: Watering large areas or plants with different watering requirements
Top tip: Get creative!
Extra solar power
Need more watering time? No problem. With the mains powered WaterMate, you can irrigate without limit. If you are off grid or just want to make use of solar energy, then you can add to your pumping capabilities by adding a second solar panel to your kit
Best for: Lower light situations
Top tip: Sit the two solar panels next to each other, facing south for maximum effect
So… How will You Water Yours?
Maybe you have a rooftop oasis, a tiny patio garden, or a large polytunnel. Maybe you love hands-on control, or maybe you want to set it and forget it, knowing that if the weather gets hot and your plants need more water, the system will react appropriately. However you water, our WaterMate irrigation system can be adapted to your way – because no two gardens (or gardeners) are the same.
Happy watering!
